JEET KUNE DO

'NO UNIFORM. NO BELTS. NO POINT SYSTEM.'
Jeet Kune Do is not a sport. There are no passive movements. Efficient, non-telegraphic strikes are used to inflict the most damage with minimal effort. JKD is banned in competitive fighting, for example MMA, as it is intended to inflict serious harm in order to survive a violent street-attack. Jeet Kune Do is graceful and peaceful but has the ability to be aggressive and violent if one is threatened.
'JKD' is not a martial art but rather concepts and philosophies of Bruce Lee placing emphasis on research, development, personal growth. JKD favors formlessness and is a collaboration of various arts including Wing Chun, Kali (Arnis/Escrima), Western Style Boxing, Thai Boxing, Savate, Dumog, Kina Mutai, etc.
Jeet Kune Do, aka JKD, when translated is 'The way of the Intercepting Fist'. Founded in 1967 by Bruce Lee, along with his protégé, training partner and best friend Dan Inosanto.
The Tenets of Jeet Kune Do are Practicality, Simplicity, Directness and Freedom. It is for real-life combat, a street fight/attack, with no rules, no point system. It is having the freedom to respond to any given situation, regardless of the size or strength of the adversary.
In a street fight/attack emphasis must be on attributes such as Speed, Timing, Sensitivity, Spatial Relation, Zoning, and Killer Instinct, including awareness of surroundings/environment.

'When you're talking about fighting, as it is, with no rules, well then, baby you'd better train every part of your body!'
- Bruce Lee
